A lot has happened in Düsseldorf since our founding. Of course, the city has always been a strong economic centre - as the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany's most populous state, but also due to its proximity to Germany's number one location for heavy industry - the Ruhr region.
So the conditions were favourable, and the city has made the most of every opportunity, especially in recent years, to call an unprecedented upswing its own, not only nationwide but also internationally.
